The bore size equates to the number of lead balls of a particular diameter that can be cast from one pound (454 g) of lead. At the same time he developed his fourth model, a single trigger, double-action revolver based on the same frame.Īt the time the size of revolvers was typically described by the bore instead of the term calibre which is used today. In 1855 he also manufactured his own version of the Beaumont-Adams revolver, known as the Tranter-Adams-Kerr.Īfter 1856 he began production of his third model double trigger revolver, with a more streamlined frame and screw-secured rammer. His next model featured a rammer secured by a keyed peg on the frame and a hook on the barrel. The first model was built on an Adams frame and featured a detachable rammer which fitted onto the frame. Together with James Kerr, Tranter developed modifications to the Adams action and about 1853 he made the first of his double trigger, double-action revolvers. By using different types of plates, with different characteristics, the exchangers can be adapted to a wide variety of applications. The plate pack is sandwiched between a fixed frame plate and movable pressure plate, and is tightened to a predetermined overall length by lateral tightening bolts. In most cases the carrying bars are supported and held apart to the other end of the frame by a supporting column. All parts of the bars in direct contact with the heat transfer plates are made of stainless steel. The plates hang from a top carrying bar and are located by the lower bar. Between each pair of plates there is a rubber gasket, which prevents the fluids from being mixed and from leaking out of the plate pack to the surroundings. In the Plate And Frame heat exchanger design, pressed corrugated metal plates are assembled in a pack and bolted in a frame. HOW THE SUPERCHANGER PLATE & FRAME HEAT EXCHANGER WORKS ![]()
